Techniques for viewing snakes?

Hello all,
I live in the St Petersburg, Florida area. I love hiking around the Green Swamp and other areas outside of the Tampa area and I love snakes. I have only seen one snake since I moved to Florida and it was a little Ringneck snake that was in our yard back in the Spring. I was wondering what and where would be the best places or techniques to spot snakes this time of year in Florida as it has been really hot and rained almost everyday. I know from what I've read that Spring and early Summer are supposed to be the best for seeing them but I'm hoping someone can give me some good 411 for seeing some out in the wild this time of year. Have a good one.

Have you tried driving on roads at night with little traffic? I know that's one way they do it in Florida.
