Cedar Reptile Cage - Would You Trust It?

I sent him a question regarding the fact that cedar is toxic to reptiles. We'll see what he says.

Does anyone recall seeing this in Reptile Magazine? Wonder what was said about it. Leaves to much to question to even give it a chance IMHO.

My guess is that it was advertised in Reptiles magazine - not that there was any kind of write up about it...though I could be wrong. (I haven't looked at that magazine in years)

I just don't understand why they would even choose cedar to use. There are plenty of other beautiful woods he could have used and their would be no questions on the safety for animals.

I'm looking at the design, and it APPEARS that the only thing the animal can come in contact with is the glass and melamine--that the cedar is all on the OUTSIDE of the cage. I suppose some cedar fumes might enter through the top, but nothing of consequence.
If that's true, the cage is probably relatively safe. I imagine cedar was chosen for its moisture resistance. I wouldn't want one myself, and I'd have to look at it in person to be sure.

It doesn't look all that terrible, nor dangerous. I'm not sure it's all that easy to clean, but that's true of many display type cages.
