So far I’ve been pretty interested in Blue Tongue Skinks and corn snakes. Corns seem a little better for my level, although my grandma jokes she’ll stop visiting us haha.

Corn snakes are an excellent choice for a first reptile. My first snake was a corn snake. They are among the easiest snakes to care for and are usually really docile. I've gotten some really nice corns from Don Soderberg at South Mountain Reptiles (cornsnakes.net). He has both the really high end stuff and the more affordable beginner stuff, and everything in between. I highly recommend him.
