You'll be hard pressed to find anyone willing to risk hefty fines and prison time for $75. The penalties for unlawful possession, sale, transportation, etc, of an alligator are punishable by a criminal fine of up to $1000 and six months confinement. That's in addition to civil fines of up to $10,000 per infraction.
Crocodilians are highly regulated in CA. Assuming that you qualify for a restricted species permit (few people do), the permit fees alone are $422annually, plus $169 for annual inspections, plus a $50 application fee for your initial application and each time you renew.
