(In Oahu)For chameleons, drive the Pali highway to the overlook (southeast part of the island) before it drops down. There's a parking lot there and the locals walk the trails around there. I found a few not far from the parking lot, but they were out of reach. Nice big ones. There are also some locals who keep and breed them in outdoor pens between the Waimanalo and Koko Crater area. I think you can also find dart frogs in the valley down here as well. There are a few local parks where the locals told me to look, but I didn't have time while I was there. I stopped at one botanical garden at the base of the mountains, but no luck. Near the botanical garden there was a wild looking park with hiking trails that looked like a sure thing, but I had no time to check it out. I can't remember the name, but if you keep taking the Pali highway and go east, then south and finally west toward Hanauma Bay, you will see it on the right if you keep your eyes open.

Make sure and go to the Honolulu zoo to see the free-roaming day geckos. They are very localized as the Bul-buls will snag them if they get out in the open.

Good luck.
