Looks like an ovy to me. Congrats!

KKtheRipper 03-14-2012 08:05 PM

Really? Yay! Should i still pair her up with my male? Or theres no reason to now? Thanks!

Bob O'Brien 03-14-2012 10:37 PM

Im going to say not an OV but she is very close, im guessing 1-2 weeks from now she will OV. Keep an eye on her. and no need to put in the male any more either way, consider her done.

So from what your saying, this is the beginning of her ovulation? And does it harm her to keep putting the male in with her just in case this is a false alarm?

Hard to argue with more experience than me, but it looks like an ovy. I'm not seeing much "tail suck," but every snake is different. If she sheds in two weeks, I'd say she did and count down from there.

As for the male, I wouldn't. Some will ride it to the end but I don't think either is wrong. Females can be a little pissy during this time so I just leave them alone. No introductions, no meals, no handling. I don't want to be in their shoes :)

Haha ok thanks! I got my fingers crossed. :-D

Bob O'Brien 03-15-2012 06:42 PM

Definitely not a false alarm (even if its not an Ovy) so need need for the male. Like Nick said if she sheds in a few weeks this was her Ovy but Im still thinking its not. If its not it will be very soon. Keep us posted.

Thanks Bob i def will!

With all due respect, Lina ... this thread is like a month shy of 7 years old. It's likely you won't get an answer from "KKtheRipper" who originally posted in 2012.

That said, welcome to Fauna! Glad you are here :)
