My savannah hasnt defecated

I have a 6-7 inch savannah monitor that I bought last week. Finally got him eatting last night with an egg/ ground turkey mix. Pwt store days they were feeding him on crickets. Been giving him warm baths twice a day. His back legs move fine. Am i just worrying too much or can impaction be the problem? If so, what can I do besides the bath to help?

How is your Sav doing? How do you have him set up? Enclosure size, temps, humidity, substrate type and depth? Post some pictures if you can.

It's been fixed. He's doing better, mostly. He's eatting now. Still only the turkey/egg mix. But I'm mixing in vitamins and calcium and I hid some mealworms in it last night and it ate a few. Now I'm having an issue with his right eye. I'm not sure if it was his nictating membrane or if it was just some shed skin stuck in his eye, but he had something in there. I cleaned it out and it's a little pink. Have him on paper towels now and rinsing his eyes with saline drops a few times a day.

Paper towels are no good. What size enclosure and what are the temps?

20gal. Moving him into a custom one these next week. He was on eco earth til this eye thing, only reason he's on paper towels is so he doesn't get anything in his eye. I'll move him back on bedding when it doesn't look so tender. His basking spot is 110-120. Hot side is 100, cool side is 80-85

Instead of paper towels, use real towels. They're clean, hold humidity, and can be burrowed under. Someone on another forum I belong to had to have their monitor's rear legs amputated (nasty med resistant infection) and this worked for them.

Towels are a great idea if you want to grow mold. He will need a 8x4x4' enclosure. minimum of 18" of dirt, 130+ degree basking spot and 60-80% humidity. good luck accomplishing this in a 20 gallon fish tank.

Yeah. He's also 6 inches right now, but thank you for the concern.

The towels need to be washed every couple days with something similar to Dreft to avoid mold. A substrate that is inconvenient for the keeper but good for the animal is a good substrate.

18-24" of dirt will be necessary once the health issue clears up if you're looking to avoid future health issues. And my savannah had 12" of substrate in a 4' x 3' container at 8", he did just fine with it.

This next week ill be moving him into a 46Lx20Wx18H enclosure. He had 6 inches of substrate initially. This weekend ill likely move him back onto it as his eye has cleared up alot.
