The Bird Identification Challenge!
I've been starting to compile a respectable digital library of photographs from my bird banding expeditions over the past few years, so I thought it would be fun to post a few pictures on here every once in a while to give people a fun mental exercise!
So, get your field guides and thinking caps out, and try to identify the following birds. You're lucky, no binoculars are required! ;-) Some of these photos will be difficult or bad on purpose. Anyone can take a book and a good photograph and identify a bird. It takes some special brainstorming to identify a bird from a blurry or dark photograph. Here are the first two. Hint: These pictures were taken this past weekend at a fall migration station on the coast of Georgia.
