Going to Asheville, NC for 2 weeks...

LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO GO AND SEE ANYTHING UP THERE...I have been going there for many years but i have never seen timbers in the wild...i would love to go to a reliable place to see them.

Hi Michael, unfortunately Timbers are very hard to come by up here. In fact, the only real common snake is the black rat. There is however, a load of salamanders and other amphibians. There are also a few copperheads and a good number of garter snakes, but nothing to get really excited about. I am not saying you will not find a Timber, but I would be very surprised.

I can't speak for Ashville, but here in eastern nc we have plenty of timbers. Come out this way and we'll go.

I would love to get pics of some timbers in the wild! The only rattler I have seen in NC was an EDR that was DOR in Sneeds Fery, NC just out side of Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps base and that was in 96'. Holycow, that was ten years ago. I getting old.... Better hurry Josh, I don't know how long my legs will hold out!lol Thanks, Blue

As far as this summer I actually caught and photographed a Hellbinder...that was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen....but like you said...thousands of garters...plenty of blackrats...salamanders...and a few frogs...check out my website for some pics... www.imageevent.com/dumje maybe next summer i will visit the eatern part of the state when i am up there...where exactly are you located John?

Well, on the eastern part of NC they have the Canebrakes but they look different from the mountain timbers....
