Eggs Found in Yard—What do I Do?

Earlier today, my family and I discovered a small cluster of eggs in the middle of the lawn. We live in Washington, so the ground is usually moist, and we’ve had a lot of rain the past few days, but the clump of eggs is nowhere near a pond. They’re just in the middle of the yard, under a pile of leaves. We can’t tell if they’re frog eggs or salamander eggs, and we don’t know if we should just leave them there or relocate them to a pond. What should we do?:hair_on_fire:

Personally, I would put up a marker in the yard so that you don't disturb that area on accident, then I would leave the eggs alone. Whatever left them there probably knew what they were doing in selecting that particular location.

Please attach a photo so that one of the amphibian enthusiasts might be able to help you with identification.

What Robert said is prudent. Cover them back up for now and leave them there. Get a photo.

I am also curious if they might be gastropod eggs.
