Housing help.
I am new to this forum, I keep hearing and reading so many different things to use for a Garter snake I would like to buy. Can anyone please tell me what I need to have a happy snake. Thank You

i kept garters for a number of years and this is what worked for me:
1. at least ten gallons of room for every 1-2 snakes 2. sterile dirt and leaves with live plants makes for a beautiful encloser and a more comfortable home for the snakes. 3. a large water dish for drinking and soaking 4. at least 2 hide aways of any kind (it must be big enough for the snake to completly fit inside) 5. 75-82 degrees...do heat rocks as they can burn a snake you can also add other things but that is the basic setup good luck, hope this is usefull |
The extreme basics would include a hiding place small enough for the snake's coils to touch the sides of it, a water dish large enough to soak in, substrate of some kind, and a ventilated container about 2/3 the length of the snake.
