heating tubs

Just wondering what was the more popular heating source for tubs out there. I have a homemade rack and each tub has its own heat pad from PETCO. I'm thinking of expanding with a few more tubs and just want to know if there is anything that is more recommended than what I am using now...

why dont you use 3in heat tape?

Flexwatt heat tape is the way to go.

I use 4" heat tape in my homemade racks, sandwiched between layers of thin steel to protect it from wear and backed with reflectix insulation. Rich at Reptile Basics is great for flexwatt, and if you buy the connectors he's happy to hook it up for you free of charge. Fastest shipping of any company offering flexwatt that I've experienced, too.

I agree, flexwatt is the way to go, not to mention its alot cheaper than the heat pads

Thanks Brian...

What size do you all think I should get for the 34 qt tubs? I was thinking on getting the 4" but wasnt sure if it should be 12" long or 16" long?

morph evolution 08-08-2010 10:48 PM

i have 28qt tub racks,i use 3in and it heats 1/2 of the tub and gives a cool down side.would u happen to have a pic of what you are building?

Jonas@Balls2TheWall 08-08-2010 10:51 PM

I will try and get some pics soon. It is basically some wooden shelves with the 34 qt tubs on them. Its nothing fancy...
