Hatchling feeding question
I have 2 bullsnake hatchlings out of a clutch of 5 that as of yet have refused to eat (they hatched on Aug 3rd). I'm wondering how long I can safely wait before needing to force feed them? They seem healthy otherwise, are active and have the usual temperament.

I don't keep bullsnakes, as they are prohibited from possession in Wisconsin.
I've had little luck with force feeding other snakes, though. Scenting and cooling might be a better bet. As long as they're not losing too much weight, a few months can go by without harm. |
I suspect those two may have had more yolk on board when they left the egg and may not be as quick to as their siblings. I'm sure they will eventually feed unassisted.
Try pinching the nose of the pink or fluff to bloody its nose once defrosted , another trick is to place the food at the opening of a hide. Good Luck...Pituophis Rock!! |
