Tick Species from Asia Found in Mid-Atlantic Region

The East Asian / Longhorned tick was first found in NJ last year and was found in Virginia a few weeks ago. Make sure to check yourself very well after a time spent in the field.

Every time I swat a mosquito or yellow fly chewing on me, or find a tick making a blood withdrawal, I wonder what sort of lovely microbial "gifts" they are leaving behind in my bloodstream.
