Humidity troubles
I still don't have her yet.. I should have her closer to June, but I'm having troubles keeping the humidity down in the 6qt tub I'll be keeping my western hognose in... I have it set up as bioactive with springtails and I'll soon have giant canyon Isopods in it... I've drilled many holes on the top and sides but the humidity is still at 99 percent. Any tips? Should I hook up a computer fan to it ? And should I worry about heat escaping due to all the holes ? I'm using an ultratherm heat mat... And a jump start brand thermostat
Thanks in advancehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...339ce35c06.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ac2a6d3d0c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...451d6d278d.jpg Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk |
You have way too much moisture in too small of a container. My suggestion is, if you want to do bioactive, use a much larger enclosure with decent ventilation.
If you want to keep it in a shoebox or sweater box, use newspaper or aspen shavings, and keep it dryer. What you are trying to do with that wet shoebox setup is likely to result in the death of the snake. |

A drier set up shouldn't need a fan.
Unless the fan were mounted right to the enclosure, I don't think it would make much of a difference. |
