How old is the snake & how often do you feed?

Firstly larger prey is likely needed as hatchlings can eat adult mice right out of the egg most folks start feeding either rat pups or hopper mice for first meals.

Another factor is frequency of feeding. For young BPs a correctly sized prey item 5-7 days is ideal. To determine the correct size look at the girth of the prey & that of the snake; the prey item should be the same size or a bit bigger (don't let the fur fool ya, you can use string if in doubt). Hope this helps- Deb
