Hairless rat grows hair?

I bought my hairless rat, it suddenly grew hair... Looks like a rex?
Is it normal for hair growth to be delayed?

He's patchwork (double rex) they will go through periods of being hairless and then gain patchy curly growths that will shed and reappear
