    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok as you all probably know I am out of the ball python business and have had to ship 20 or so packages in the last week or so while selling off my collection.

I have had 3 packages last week that went through Memphis, TN and were delayed overnight. I spoke with Fedex and they could give me no reason for the packages to be delayed an extra night. They told me they would get to the bottom of this and resolve the issue.

Ok so I shipped out another package Yesterday to Houston, TX from here in Oklahoma and what do you know the package went to Memphis, TN and is still there. I called Fedex and once again they have no clue as to why the package has been delayed an extra day.

Is anyone else having any issues with this happening? I have only one more snake left to ship and I am hoping it doesn't have to go through Memphis.

Just in case anyone is wondering, the three snakes that I shipped last week that were delayed all arrived a little cold but they were ok. And yes I used heat packs.
 
Yes as you know I'm gettin one of the snakes you shipped out yesterday and I was suppose to receive another package today but it got delay in Memphis...I talk to the guy I that shipped to me and he said that the flight was delayed because of weather...but as I checked the weather before I even asked you guys to ship and it said the weather was fine so I have know idea...and after all that I missed work with know snakes...but don't get it wrong it wasn't the guys that ship it fault so plz don't think I'm tryin to bash them they were great about it and contacted me everytime they heard something so thanks a lot josh (ultimate pythons)
 
There can be a lot of reasons for delays, fog and icing aren't as easy to project by looking at the weather. If it was something that happened AT FedEx, then that is a different story...and maybe something they have to address internally.
 
I would be fighting to get my shipping costs reimbursed if they failed to make delivery on the day that was agreed upon (from fed ex) I know I would be livid if one or more of my animals was kept for an additional day. Guess now I'm kinda glad most of my stuff goes through Indy.
 
We were actually just talking about this over at cs.com. There have been a few members over there that have had delays lately. Of course delays will happen from time to time but there has been a significant rise in the last couple weeks.
 
This happened to me last week. I had a package coming from Sean Niland that arrived in Memphis at 6:48 am, then it was held in Memphis all day.

The customer service rep tried to pull some junk about the box not being properly marked as a live animal or Sean not having the proper certification. This is Sean Niland from VMS we are talking about! That was the best marked live animal box I have ever seen.

Now granted the package was held up in Colorado because of a wind storm, but why can it not leave Memphis for a full day?? It arrived at 6:48am. Is there only one plane? I think not.

It really worries me since everything I get in my area comes via the Memphis hub.
 
My last shipment of snakes from Fed Ex was a nightmare. First, when I am expecting a shipment I hang out in my living room with my dogs and watch the door. No one knocks and gets past my dogs hearing them!

Shipments don't usually arrive before 2:30, but I still jump up and down every 10 minutes or so to check. I went and checked again at 12:35 and saw a door tag on my door. MISSED delivery at 12:32. WTF?? I know they didn't knock because my dogs were right there with me and they ALWAYS run to the door when someone knocks. They were going to take my shipment back to the fed ex hub, 2 hours away, and not going to attempt to deliver it again till the next day. It took both me and the breeder calling and chewing some seat meat, before they promised they'd have them to me before 6:30 pm. They would have died if they had been in the box that night because the temperature was dropping again that night. The driver was a new one. I don't know why it wasn't my regular driver this time, but he tried to claim he pounded on my door and no one answered. My dogs would have been in front of the door if that had been true. and at the time I had been sitting in my recliner less than 4 feet from the door!
 
I seen this happen to other and myself a couple times I gotten to the point I will sit in a chair right at the door and wait ( than got for a portable gaming unit lol ) or ifi am using restroom I got the door cracked open just enought to look out the door.
MY sister hada package that was delayed delivered cause they didn't know. I was sitting on the couch watching tv waiting for it . I told the guy he didn't knock hard enough . they should havea small piece of wood or something to bang with cause they act like they might bloody a knuckle knocking. I watch a the deliver guy bring packages up the ramp ( when I lived with mom ) and just drop it in front of the door and walk away ( never knocked or anythin.) and some of the tiems were valuable enough to made steallnig worth it.
I gotten to the point I require a signure and I asked that I be called now when expecting a live animal ( most the fedex guys that run my route know if they coming to my address to call and I will meet them at the truck so they don't get out( theyon the phones enough driving so make it work relatedl lol) I actually had one delivery guy come in and check out the collection one time
 
Memphis is horrible. They will always blame it on weather ... in fact I think they even have a weather disclaimer up about Memphis everytime I send something. Not sure if it's actually weather or not, but they seem to have a lot of issues.

Seems like Memphis has been getting worse and worse. I don't get it. :shrug01: Had another package fouled up there this morning (frozen feeders.)

I wish there was a way to avoid that hub, but that ain't gonna happen.
 
Bad weather = Bad management. Are other packages getting held up or just items dealing with the reptile trade? Maybe I'm getting a little paranoid...
 
Well all the snakes arrived unharmed. They refunded my shipping cost without me even asking. They were very nice and understanding with my concerns, but couldn't give me any kind of reasoning for the delays. I was told that there were no weather delays showing up in their system. A little odd if you ask me. Hope Memphis gets it together.
 
I had this issue shipping out a package. Weird was I shipped out two. One to Kansas and one to Louisiana. Kansas everything was awesome got their right on time. LA on the other hand. Never got scanned when it landed. Got to mephis and supposedly got delayed. Weird thing it went straight from Memphis to the destination town in LA. No scanning at a sort center or anything. So I think Fedex has been losing packages and blaming it on weather. As it did arrive Monday night the day I shipped it to the town. But it was on a truck that couldn't get unloaded as they were undermanned? Weird I never seen fedex not have ppl working. So who knows. I think there is something fishy going on with fedex and am about to go to all Delta Dash shipping again
 
I've had problems with the Memphis hub a few times in the past.

But, last week was the week we were tore apart with tornadoes and bad weather. This weekend was just as bad. So this time might actually be due to the weather.
 
Well, I finally shipped out my last snake and what do ya know. It is delayed in Memphis! This is ridiculous. I pay for overnight and every one that goes through Memphis was held up an extra night. Talked with Fedex again and they couldn't give me any reason once again. Something is definitely going on with the Memphis hub. Strange that no one at Fedex can give me any reason for all of my shipment being held up there.
