    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Yow, how did that happen?

Just looked at the stats and saw that yesterday, 03-04-2012 at 03:35 PM. there were 4,733 concurrent users logged into this site. :eek:

The highest number previous to that was something like 1,800. I'm surprised the server didn't choke up.

Well, too bad it's not REGISTERED MEMBERS that made up that number. I'm not sure where those concurrent connections all came from, but quite likely it has something to do with search engines or something. I just think it highly unlikely that over 2,000 people all of a sudden decided to visit this site all at the SAME TIME, and then go away just as suddenly, bringing the numbers back down to a more normal level.

I dunno, was this site's URL published in any high profile website at that time? That's about the only way I could think this could have happened with a sharp temporary spike like that.

Yeah, I guess it would be nice to have that many members visiting all at the same time, but quite honestly they would need to be PAYING members, because I'm positive the server I now have just would not be able to handle that kind of concurrent traffic. So that would mean another server upgrade to keep up or the whole thing would come crashing down. A BIG server, at that. Not to mention the bandwidth requirements would likely be pretty substantial as well.

Man, talk about a silver lining with a BIG DARK cloud wrapped around it.... :ack2:
