In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Giving birth after 6 years from a male...

I was the Collections Curator at a Nature Center in NY in the 80s and 90s, and we had a Timber Rattlesnake that gave birth to healthy baby in 1990 after at least 8 years of living alone!!

I am sad to say, that the newest update is not so awesome. The baby that had the eye issue, and that wouldnt ever eat, Finally passed away today. We worked hard to try to save it, but it just never got going well. Also the other one, has stopped eating again, and its back to assist feeding, so here goes this again. updates when they happen.

I'm sorry to hear that. We are still pulling for the other one. Odds are the sperm had degraded and they might have underlying issues, but perhaps she is just being finicky since she has eaten on her own before. Keep positive.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Eric!

I know how it is to put so much time and energy into a special needs animal, and to have it pass away.

It takes a little piece of your soul with it.

Don't ever give up or second guess yourself...you're an awesome herp parent, and you've made a great contribution by tracking these little wonders!!

Sometimes, things are just way beyond our control or they simply aren't meant to be, no matter how much we want them to be.

Keep up the great work with the other baby, and please let us know how it's doing!!

Sending prayers for a quick turn around for the other one!!

RIP, little one!!!!

I just found this thread and was about to recommend dr. booth. I was wondering if you ever got the sheds sent off?

Yes, that shows me not to check to see if someone has logged off the computer before posting. Anyhow, the mother hasnt shed in quite some time, she seems to be dulling out, so hopefully she will shed soon enough... We will see though, it will be nice to find out some answers to what happend in this situation.

Unfortunately, the second girl didnt make it either. I cant express how sad it makes us all at GHC to have lost not just one, but both of these beautiful babies. I want to take the time to thank everyone that has shown so much support and followed their story. Thanks.

:(
VERY sorry to hear this, I've just lost all three of a litter I was very invested in and I know how much effort goes in to keeping them alive even when it appears they would rather not be....

You fought a good fight and brought us something very interesting. It's sad to hear they didn't make it, but the genetic question is still very valid and I hope eventually their origin is solved.

If it really was sperm retention you may have just discovered the limit of storage viability....

WoW :( I really don't know what to say...

One thing I will say is because of this story/thread, you have inspired many people.
You ARE great at what you do, these things just happen sometimes. Thanks for keeping us up to date on everything throughout!

Im terribly sorry to hear of your loss. But, please still get these dna tested. You still have the sheds and can use a scale clipping from the passed babys. It would be huge to find a snake other than a boa that has the capabilities to reproduce in this manner.

I'm so sorry you've lost both of the girls!!!

RIP, precious little ones!!!

Condolences on your losses, too, Helen!!

It's NEVER easy to lose them...no matter how many we have, how many we've lost before, how old they were, or how much time we've invested in them.

They are still little lives that were part of our lives.

RIP, precious little trio!!
