Man, that's annoying as hell. Not to mention the intrusion of personal space. Next time, don't be afraid to bark, it's ok to be angry sometimes.
Back when I was feeding live, I'd walk out of the pet store with a few boxes with rats and mice in them.
I got cornered a couple times by curious children, "What do you have in the box?"
"Well, six year old girl that still believes in unicorns and rainbows, there's a rat in there, don't ask why."
I have come across a few kids with their parents and the "Well, do you like hamburgers?" issue comes up and the kid winds up ok with it. I tend to think it's educational.
