I'd also like to point out that, as someone who has survived an insulin overdose, I can tell you that it is definitely not a good way to go. Far from the humane death that rarejewels imagines. And as someone who has provided IV medication to snakes, I'll tell you that it is extremely challenging if you don't have a second person to hold the animal down. I doubt that the wimpy girlfriend in the hypothetical scenario has the guts or know-how to restrain a venomous snake.
