I'm not a tortoise expert by any means, but I checked the temps in West Palm Beach during the relevant time frame, and they didn't seem warm enough (55-75). The leopard tortoise care sheets I've read suggest that no part of the enclosure should be less than 75, and that a hot spot of 95 is required. No wonder the animal stopped eating. Since Rod doesn't deny that he kept them outside at least during the day, this seems pretty cut and dried.
