Heads up folks!,
I was taken by this guy over two years ago and have since cooled down to where it's not a personal thing...but I have seen his ads on Kingsnake within the last year under the name "John" from Coral Springs...In fact, he had a nice looking baby emerald I almost called about!!(glad I didn't!&#33 spam_There was a couple of posts about this guy on the second version of Rich's BOI which all got deleted when the site crashed. spam_I just wanted to post my deal with John Paul to warn people to be wary of this guy who I am sure will surface under other names in the future. spam_On the phone he seems like an OK guy, although not very smart...he says outrageous things like "Oh yeah, we breed Basins and sell em for $600. We just want to give people a good deal!"LoL
What follows is my original post on the first version of the BOI, which is long gone off the internet. spam_His business on kingsnake at that time was called "Diablo Reptiles"...Be wary of anyone from Pompano Beach named John!!:

I know I should have been wary of a business with the name Diablo Reptiles and I know this business has gone silent on the web for some months but, should he ever reappear as Diablo or with another name for his business I want to warn people about John Paul (also may not be his real name!)of Pompano Beach,Fla.
spam_I had a serious shipping problem with John Paul of Diablo Reptiles back in January,2000. spam_He had a nice male Emerald Tree posted on the Kingsnake Classifieds. spam_I bought it and sent him $350 for the snake plus $64 for Delta Dash. spam_In his first attempt to ship he told me that Delta wouldn't let him ship because he owed them money. spam_He then said he would have a friend of his ship the snake. spam_When I finally received the snake on a Tuesday, it was sent freight collect and I had to pay an additional $65.88 for shipping(remember I had already paid shipping&#33. spam_
spam_ I had given him specific instructions for shipping (heat paks, airport, N. O. A., my address, etc.) because it was a touchy weather situation with daytime highs in the mid to upper 40's. spam_What I found out from Delta was that John Paul's friend had dropped the snake off at 8PM the previous night. spam_The snake was sitting at least 6 hours at both Atlanta and Cincinnati in an unmarked box with no indication of being a live animal. spam_When I opened the box, the snake was in a bag soaked with urates and feces, the animal was completely cold, no heat paks, not even any newspaper to pad the snake bag. spam_The snake was alive, but within a week developed a serious respiratory problem as I knew it would. spam_
spam_ I took the Emerald to my vet three times for Amikacin shots. He died within two months as I suspected he would. It was such a shame, because that emerald was a really nice animal. spam_If Mr. John Paul of Diablo Reptiles had taken any care or consideration for the welfare of the animal he shipped I would have been very happy with that emerald. spam_I guess, once he got his money, he really didn't care about keeping his customer happy or-worse-even keeping the animal he shipped alive. spam_He initially apologized and said he would "make it right," but soon after he just deleted my emails. spam_I guess it was just 'water under the bridge' to him.

Just a note here: The first and second BOI are NOT lost. They still exist. However I haven't had the time to link in the first one, and I will have Danni link in the second one as soon as we can connect to discuss it. Sorry I haven't been able to do this sooner.
