We could debate various aspects of the described scenario, in which a person was told that he didn't need to leave money to secure a purchase, then one of the animals was sold to another party...but the bottom line is that, since the opening post is hearsay, it would be nothing more than conjecture. Without getting the story from the two people actually involved - Mr X, and Kathy from Small Wonders - this thread is pretty useless.
If somebody that has contact info for Kathy could notify her of this, it would be appreciated. Since Melissa is the only one that knows the identity of Mr X, I hope she will ask him to join us.
