If you're looking for large areas of undeveloped land in Florida try to look inland. The coastal areas have been heavily developed for the tourist traps. I live on the central west coast and the cold snap right now is in the low 30's at night but mid 60's during the day. The cold weather doesn't stay long and usually happens every other year. I've been here 9 years and was from Massachusetts. It's hard to believe what is allowed in Florida. I have a Exotic Permit with Fish and Game for Parrots and have only run into them once at a bird show and all they wanted was to make sure all the vendors were licensed. There are large tracts of land still undeveloped in many areas of Florida but if you need outside employment you may have to make that an important part of your location search since many areas only offer jobs in the service industries and the pay isn't always very high or may be seasonal.
