Since, you are looking for a more hands on pet,
Pogona vitticeps, would be a great choice for your next ectothermic pet.
I bet, though, I am anything but an expert on
Pogona vitticeps, I would assume an older specimen is fairly easy to tame.

I completely understand. I have learned that all good things in life are worth waiting for.
