A bizarre reptile smuggling case for Florida police

Authorities in Charlotte County, Florida say a woman pulled an alligator out of her yoga pants during an early morning traffic stop on Monday.

According to officials the woman was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for running a stop sign in the city of Punta Gorda.

After citing the driver, officers asked the 25-year-old woman a standard law enforcement question, "Do you have anything else?"

That's when the woman revealed the small one foot gator.

She also told them she had 41 small three-striped turtles in the vehicle.

Authorities say the driver told deputies the pair had been scavenging for frogs and snakes when they discovered the reptiles.

The turtles and American alligator are regulated.

So, the two were cited for having them.

The reptiles were seized by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and then released back into the wild.
