PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Animal Control officers usually pick up cats and dogs.
But their Friday got off to an unusual start.
People spotted an alligator on Oakwood Street in Homewood.
A kennel's not a good place for a reptile, so officers took it to the Animal Rescue League.
But the two and a half foot gator won't stay there long.
For now, the gator is in a cool cage at the Rescue League's office in East Liberty.
No one knows where the gator is from.
A rescue group is expected to pick up the gator Friday night.
