I have had to reload all drivers before from stupid Windows updates. It is a pain in the but. If you ever need to get to your files even if windows will not boot. Try Puppy Linux. You burn the image to a CD and then boot from the CD. Then it will read the HDD and any other HDD connected. You can recover a lot with it.
I have seen this many times. Microsoft must get better when they release their updates. IT IS A HUGE PAIN.
