Arizona Rattlers

Photographing wildlife and mainly scenery has always been a hobby of mine. I have always been fascinated with rattlesnakes, but almost NEVER see them. When I do, I don't have my camera.

Anyways, my question is how do I find them? I want to go out on the weekend and seek them out for photographing, but where do I start? I can't find very specific habitat descriptions online, or in books. I live in Prescott, and the temperature changes radically so is there an optimal temperature range when I want to go look for them? Do I look in bushes, under rocks, under trees, near water, or just anywhere? Basically, if you wanted to go out and find a rattlesnake where would you look?

On a side note, I know how dangerous they are and I do not intend on perturbing them in any way. I just want to take pictures from a safe distance.
