Red on Black....

Lucky enough to flip this Scarlet King early Friday morning.
Outside temp was a cool 57 degrees F. Love spring time in FL.
This guy was photograph, bit me (sweet revenge lol), and placed right back in his spot where he could snuggle up. Later in the day I found the FL King hiding out. Left him right where he was found.
We are really punishing "catch and release" for all FL snake hunters. Most of us do... The snake populations have really suffer from commercial development of key habitats, road kills, and yes, over collecting. I would love to see FL pass laws protecting the native reptiles from commercial collecting! Or some type of bag limits. Diamond Backs, Pines, Corns, Yellows and Kings have suffered great losses.
With all the captive breed animals available, no need to bag any FL snakes.
I've been reading Craig Trumbower new book "More Than Snake Hunting".
He's documented some great stories of the old Florida glory days when you could go out and actually find an Indigo! Only half way through the book but can't put it down. It's a must read for any snake hunter.
Take care and God Bless! Happy Easter! mike
