I would agree that above all else my family comes first BUT we are talking about a$7000+++ debt not a few hundred. At some point he could have at least given a crap and paid a $100 here or there or at least made an honest effort!!! Could you just stop and imagine how you would feel??? They got $0!!!!!! And gave him their $7000++. How the freak would that make you feel?????
