Unfortunately, this is just another nail in the coffin of herp-keeping, at least for large constrictors. I'm sure PETA, the HSUS, and the Michigan Humane Society have already tried contacting the guy, to pressure him into giving up the snake.
The guy who owns it seems like a nice guy, and is reasonably well-spoken. However, he is young, and obviously didnt make sure the snake stays safe and contained at all times. It isn't the greatest area of the City, and now everyone knows what he has to steal.
People already think we reptile keepers are crazy. These stories only fuel the prohibition pushers.
