The baby water monitor pictured is Komaini phase Macromaculatus, not V. togianus. Baby togianus are Yellowish colored ventrally. Komaini babies are dark grey. Some obscure remnant patterning may be seen on hatchling Komainis but will ulitmately fade to Jet Black as it matures. DoubleDragon, I could also mention scalation and head morphology differences.
