Last night after dinner I went road cruising here in eastern nc (Croatan Natl. Forest). It started out slow but as the sun disappeared, the snakes appeared in full force. I was only cruising for 20 minutes, but saw 5 snakes. 3 of what I suspect were water snakes. They were too fast to capture on film, and i wasn't 100% sure they werent cottonmouths, so i let them go. I did however find one dead on the road.
I also spotted 2 copperheads on the way out.
