Butterworms?

I have been looking for more information and places to buy butterworms, though they are extremely expensive for feeders. 250 count cost about $25. From what I have read they have a very high calcium content, 3 times more than any other feeder. Does anyone here use them? Are they worth the money?

I do not use a lot of insects as I mainly own snakes, so I am curious if they are worth getting for the few insecting eating lizards I own.

Thanks

Exclamation Irradiated feeders!

Butterowrms are the larva from Chile, also known as Tebo or Trevo worms because of the name of the plant or tree they live in and eat. As such they cant be fed in captivity unless you have the proper plant. Thus over time they lose nutrients. Also the amount of calcium in a feeder is not anywhere near as important as the calcium to phosphorous ratio which should be 2 to 1 calcium to phosphorous or greater. These worms are also irradiated before being broght into the country to prevent possible breeding and becoming a potential pest. Silkworms are also alot cheaper and can be fed so they can maintain their nutrition. Worms such as night crawlers and snails are also very high in calcium.
