The USPS doesn't really follow thier own rules unless a HOT snake was shipped by them.
Which brings me to another question. How would they know if it were a HOT snake vs. a Boa, or corn snake?

People don't jump on them because of how much trouble they can get in. People jump on them because it IS illegal(whether they prosecute or not) and it makes the reptile industry as a whole look bad. I can't even imagine shipping HOTS through anyone but Delta. Though rare packages do get damaged and that is putting peoples lives at risk. If the USPS, FED EX, UPS... decided they really wanted to crack down or stop shipping reptiles all together they could really hurt a lot of people in the reptile industry. Your only options would be buying from shows or using Delta. It is not very hard and it does not cost too much extra to ship things properly. I don't deal in any hots. I only sell ball pythons but I still went through the process of at least getting FED EX certified to ship live animals. It not only makes me feel better about shipping my animals but I think it also makes my customers feel more confident that I am legitimate and not trying to rip them off.
