    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I bought 2 red eyed tree frogs from a friend who is holding them until I finish my vivarium. I really want to do a waterfall feature with a false bottom. I also plan on putting live moss in it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Should I use hyrdoballs underneath or should I leave the bottom open and prop the substrate up with PVC? I'm just trying to find out what works best for more experienced people. Thanks!

P.S. Where do you buy that plastic egg crate stuff? Everywhere I find it online it's like $160 and sold in packs of 15. :(

Check Lowes or home depot for the egg crate stuff. It will be in the lighting section.

I have used both the PVC with egg crate on top as well as the hydroton. Both seem to work just as well

I tried a water fall in a couple of my tanks. It took about a month to get clogged. I tried fixing it numerous times and eventually said the hell with it.

So my suggestions would be if you are going to do a water fall, try to put the pump on the outside of the tank so it is easily accessible. Most frogs will soak in their water and in the process drag coco fiber, moss, leaves, etc into the water clogging up the filters pretty quick. So any way you can make it that the filter is easy to get to, is better.
