Hi guys,
So first off I have a weird question: I understand that with male leos, above where there hemipenes are like right at the entrance of their vent, they have a small hole on each side where their hemipenes are everted, but why are these "holes" also on females?
Here is why this question came about and the weird behavior.
I have recently noticed lots of noise and scuffling coming from my adult female tank that houses 6 adult females. Every single one has produced eggs for me in the past, and I am very good at sexing.
So tonight, I see my female rainwater albino trying to "breed" with one of the others (this rainwater female has produced eggs and babies for me). She was biting the back of my high orange and trying to climb on top of her and doing the head twitch. Her privates were also swollen, like that of a male about to breed.
So I immediately removed the rainwater and began examining her, this is when I noticed the two small holes near the vent, which prompted a small heart attack because I knew for sure that they were exhibited in males but I didnt know females had them too (until I checked one of my other females).
I've never seen any of my females "assert dominance" over one another, so I'm not sure what this behavior is.
And I know that they spontaneously cannot change sex (lol unless this is the first case, hahahaha) but now she honestly looks like she could almost pass for a male.
Has anyone experienced this behavior or can answer my question at the top?
What a weird night...
