    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I recently bought a hatchling baby albino female retic. She still had her egg tooth and umbilical cord.

She's about a foot and a half long and has a few kinks on the back 1/3 of her body, but she's not paralyzed by them.

My only concern is since I've had her she has not flicked her tongue once.

Is this because she is too young, or since she has kinks has it affected her tongue in a way?

Any help would be appreciated.

I just opened her mouth to look at her tongue and it's limp and seemed under developed, as it stuck out of her mouth sideways like a dog. As she grows will it develop proper or do I have to assist feed her all her life?

Your original post suggested quite severe birth defects.... is she now fully active, and have her "kinks' straightened out?

Only one of her biggest kinks has straightened out. The biggest one still hasn't show any signs of being better anytime soon. She is extremely active though. Never stops moving except when she thinks she's a GTP on the deco in her tank for a nap.

Update: Shedding again, still needs to be assist fed, but has a good appetite. No signs of being able to drink, unless she does it when I'm not watching, so she gets soaked to keep her hydrated. Still a good body weight, has even gotten bigger. :)

Thank you for the update. I've thought about this often. I am so glad you've kept her & are taking such good care of her!!! She is very lucky.

Yup! I'm very happy she's lived this long. I didn't have much hope at first but look at her now!

Update: She's now eating mice, still assist fed, but no where near as hard as it used to be. I'm guessing she may have to be hand fed all her life, maybe. I'm feeding a 12' female African Rock by hand because she has a neurological problem, so I'm sure a retic would be fine lol.
