In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So is it true they can't lay a viable clutch? Nothing I read has said one way or the other just a lot of speculation. has anyone heard any news on a super desert?

I reciently talked to Dav Kaufmann that makes the herpers videos and he said he knows a couple guys who have had clutches from desert females. I wish I had more but I dont. He said that the key was to get them over 2000 grams. Once again I have not talked to the breeders myself. I still think they will breed, we just have to find out what the key is.....size, temps, Barry White! I still love some of the combos too much to stop breeding. Hopefully this season some will produce and the breeders will share all the info. Its too late to keep it a secret because the bottom had already dropped out of the females and males are not far behind.

I'm with Steve on this one. Not that it's impossible to have happened, but it just doesn't make sense to keep that kind of info out of the pool of knowledge..

look maybe at something like a leopard that has a lot of potential with more morphs than the mystic.

I cant wait for the haters! Its known that there is issues with deserts breeding and no-one has every fought that they do. These guys are going to bash the deserts like your trying to sell them one and tell them they produce 30 egg clutches! My opinion is still if you want a desert get a male and hold back any females as a project much like a dinker project......may or may not prove out. I would only buy a desert female if it was a stupid deal on nothing more but possibly a pet.......after all we like snakes right, or we could open a 7-11 for money!

All the clutches that were dropped by large desert females have been duds, and unfortunately one of the females died soon after laying. Too me this problem should have been assessed much sooner before so many people invested money and time just to have this happen.

I'm not a hater of Deserts but I wouldn't buy a female unless there was evidence that they can produce viable clutches and to date there is no prove that they do. Personally I like Deserts. :yesnod:

I agree. If they guys who started this project had any knowledge of the issues I would be pissed if I spent the money on a female. I spent good money on a male and still love my combos. Like I said, even if they do have a break through, its too late because the females have lost all value. Its truely for the love of what they make over top dollar. Not a good investment if you want a return.

Unfortunately it looks like greed got in the way of the truth.

I've seen several males under a grand now.
I'd think a 75% drop in price in one season would be enough to say the males are tanking in price now also.
Sad for such a beautiful morph that makes some amazing combo's :(

they do make some killer looking animals. I really like the desert pin and a few others. I was just thinking what would be the point if you cant breed the female. I was talking with a friend and he was telling me about mojave females are in demand and not easy to find at the hamburg show. the only thing I was thinking was because of the mystic potion.

If i here that you can breed females I would most defnitely get into deserts toss them with my fireflys would make some slamin snakes for sure.

Temp doesn't help...size doesn't matter...age doesn't matter....the Desert project is back to square one.
John Wollard had...key word had...a 08 female over 2000 grams kept at cooler temps and she threw 4 slugs and couldnt pass the rest...died
Also a same size Desert Enchi female....laid three so far...slugs...and still has three in her as of today.
John if you read this so sorry for your loss and appreciate the fact that you did share the information....you are a stand up guy in my book

I would say go with phantom instead of mystic and stay away from desert gene.

Other than the price difference, why go for phantom over mystic?

As far as deserts go, looks like nice pets to me. Even with the way male prices are crashing, I wouldn't pick one up to work into any of my projects..

Glad I didnt get into the project Im sure everybody knows about them now,I hear about clutches lets see the pics??? Im still hoping the combos will produce I guess next year we will see>
