I have a significantly large budget, so price should not be an issue. I would prefer captive bred, but if they are very well established and have been checked for any health issues I can compromise on that. I am open to most species, but I would prefer larger monitors such as Niles, ornates, etc.
This may sound insane to those with experience, but due to the nature of the project that these animals are going to be part of, I must ask that they be calm animals that do well with regular handling. I cannot delve too deep into why that is, but I will not take individuals that are prone to biting/dashing away/etc. It's not that I cannot deal with an animal of such nature, but it is necessary for this project.
Pairs are preferable, but so long as I am able to find another animal of the opposite sex I will accept individuals. I want animals old enough/large enough to sex reliably. I am more than willing to pay extra money for a calmer animal, but please stay within reason.
Thank you.
EDIT:
I am also willing to compromise on the animal being near to adult size, so long as it is a species that will fare well on rodents as a staple later in life. Also, it MUST have been bred and hatched out in the US. In order to clarify this, I WILL ask for the name of the breeder, and I will want pictures of the parents and eggs. Furthermore, I will need references from other customers so that I can confirm I am getting the animals from a respectable and reputable source.
