ok.....what I do get is that there are some BEAUTIFUL morphs out there, and yes, some of the rarer ones MIGHT deserve big price tags, but what I don't get are the extreme prices on het snakes.  I just read on the classifieds on KS, that there are pairs of 25% possible double het for snow BPs going for $3,500 a pair.  When I read this I said "what?" and answered "well, that's what it says."  Then I asked "Why?" And answered, "wekk I guess some people would pay it."

What I see here are not 25% poswsible double hets, but 75% possible normals.....am I the only one that sees it this way?  Whoever buys them (if anyone) has a much greater chance of them being REALLY expensive normals than het for anything.....they were created by breeding a double het to a normal....granted you may end up with a single het for albinism or axanthicism.....but not snow. and the chance of those are pretty slim as well.

Now for my arguments......The person selling them is nto in the wrong, why?.....because that's what people are willing to pay for a gamble.  Market prices are what make the reptile industry.  If people will pay for it, sell it.  This BP craze has everyone emptying their pocketbooks hoping to be the next person geen splicing that hot new morph.  And the hets are what they are relying on.  To me a het is a normal...plain and simple.....normal until proven het.  I mean, 100% het is one thing, but when dealing with "possible" hets, I get a little weirded out.  I have made a vow to NEVER sell anything as a possible het.  They will be sold as normals....If it turns out het, good for you, but I feel that if somebody buys even a 66% possible het, and it turns out to be normal, I would have a slight feeling of guilt.  I just rooked this person for thousands of dollars because they though they were getting a snake that could absolutely MAKE their breeding project, only to find out 2 years down the road that they have to start all over again.  It just doesn't make sense.

I havt to agree with you. I haven't figured it out yet myself. People just need to save alittle more money and buy a sure thing if they want any breeding project to prosper. Just my thoughts.

Hello guys. I agree with the "HET" epidemic. I just want to ad another point about the buyers in these situations.

I have heard alot about people getting upset with the seller and saying that they sold them something that wasn't really a het. I mean, it's obvious that not ALL people understand what "Possible" het means.

Then, some sellers even post animals as "Guaranteed Possible" hets. I mean yeah, of course you can guarantee it's "Possible". I can guarantee that I have a "CHANCE" to win the lottery if I would just buy a ticket. But , if I don't win, I'm not gonna go back to the store and cuss and bitch about my ticket not being the winning one. Just an analogy for those who don't understand my point here.

Anyway, I just wanted to say to all buyers and sellers alike, please know that "Possible" het for anything is just that. It's okay that sellers want to charge for the possibility of an animal being het, but if the buyer doesn't dig on the idea of paying that much for a gamble, then simply don't buy.

Thank you all for enduring my opinion on this matter. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>

Sincerely, David L. Hinojosa

I agree also, though if the snake were produced by breeding a double het to a normal (I'm assuming het albino gene + het axanthic gene to produce a double het snow) then there's going to be 25% chance for double het, 25% chance het albino, 25% chance for het axanthic, and 25% chance not het for anything. &nbsp; In this case, maybe you could charge a somewhat higher price than a normal since chances are it will be het for at least one of these variations. But I also think that $3500 is way too much - I don't think it should be above $500 in any case.

P.T. Barnum said it best &quot;a sucker is born every minute&quot;. Any one that pays more than the price of a normal for a possible het., well if the shoe fits. IMHO
