In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Scales N Stuff

I go to Sheridan Animal Hospital, and the vet bills are outrageous. I'm looking for a cheaper vet. Elma is kinda far, I live right around the corner from the zoo. I started going to that vet 16 yrs ago, because it seemed they were the only ones who knew what they were talking about with my ig. I'm sure things have changed since then, and I'm a little angry with them that they won't let me set up a payment plan. I take all 7 of my animals there, plus my mom takes her 3 cats and dog there. You'd think with all the business my family brings them, they'd be a little lenient. They always keep me waiting for an appt as well.

Here's a few reptile-specific vets that might be closer to you... hopefully with some more reasonable rates! That sounds outrageous. I found them on herpvetconnection.com (which is where I found Dr. T near my house) - I think people have to actually recommend them to get on there.

Sorry to hear of this..

Has anyone contacted the dealer who sold the skink, to inform them of this post?
Even the initial photos, though a bit dark, demonstrated just how emaciated and dehydrated the skink was upon arrival.
Also, do you happen to have the photo/s the dealer provided you, representing what you were too receive?
There are several people producing Tiliqua spp. in captivity and incidents such as this are all the more reason to seek out CB specimens when looking to make such an acquisition.
On a positive note, it looks as though your new charge has found the perfect home and you are to be commended for your diligence...

Best of luck,

Jeff

He knows of this post. He has posted something elsewhere, I have supplied that thread link in my update post. He claimed the check for $108 was in the mail, and this was stated early last week. I haven't received anything, which brings me to the conclusion, he didn't send it.

I'm also saddened to report that the toe that turned black fell off last night during the skink's bath. :( That's now a total of 2 toes and the tip of another that is missing.

Here are the pictures he sent me:

This picture shows that the animal did have the one toe that he was missing when he arrived. Also his toes are in way better condition in this picture than how they were when he arrived.

Also, keep in mind that this is a baby skink. I looked at pictures on BlueTongueskinks.net at their baby pictures to compare. None of these pictures show his hip bones sticking out like how he arrived. I'm just so glad he likes to eat, and right now he weighs 2 oz, I'm not sure what that calculates to in grams. My adult male leopard gecko weighs 2.5 oz, so that's kinda sad.

I don't really think I'm doing anything special. Anyone would do the same thing I bet, if they were in my situation.

It's probably the only picture he's truly happy in. Looks like he's warm and has a full belly in that last one. He might not have had any more happy days after that until he met you.

Don't sell yourself short. You may not think you've done anything special for that little guy, but I know someone who does--Him!
