In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I contacted Sam Craver of cagecrafters.com & cagecrafters.homestead.com, in early September of last year. Sam worked up a price for me for 12 PVC racks and extra containers. After further discussions, I decided to place a larger order with him. The revised order consisted of $7000 worth of racks and extra containers, which included Sam delivering them to me. I put down a total of $3700 in deposits, the first one for $1000 and the second one for $2700.

I told Sam at the onset that I needed these no later than April 1, 2006 (7 months), which he indicated would not be a problem. Fast foward to March 24th of this year (6 3/4 months after the order was placed), Sam has made zero attempts to contact me in regards to making this delivery. We did have one delivery scheduled (due to my persistence in contacting him) and he had to cancel it due to a personal family tragedy, which I completely understood.

I have contacted him periodically during this 7 months, to find out when he will make the delivery. He indicated in a recent phone call that he has not received the vast majority of the emails that I sent to him. None of the emails that I sent to both of his email addresses have ever come back as undeliverable. I will continue to email him until they do come back undeliverable.

Here's the last email that I sent to him (Please keep in mind that I made numerous attempts through phone and emails for him to deliver prior to this email):

Sam,

Per our phone conversation yesterday, I did not receive your phone call last night regarding a delivery date. Please call me to discuss as, per our initial conversation, I told you I need these no later than April 1, which is 2 weeks away. I have been extremely patient with you, waiting 7 months for these to be delivered. If I do not receive these by April 1, 2006, I want my money back. 7 months is more than enough time for this transaction to be finalized. You indicated at the onset that you would have no trouble getting these to me by then.

I did send him this email as a last resort to rectify the situation. Again the email did not come back undeliverable. Here it is:

Sam,

I'm very frustrated at your lack of followup with me. Numerous times I have made attempts to get the delivery set up and you have yet to follow up with any phone calls or emails. I told you at the onset I needed these racks by April 1 and you said that wouldn't be a problem. I am to the point where I will post this on the BOI if I don't here from you by this weekend. I honestly don't know the protocol on the BOI, so I am sending this to you as a favor so you can make this right.

I spoke to Sam today (March 24th, 2006) and he has agreed to refund me the $. Here is his email stating such:

Hi Scott, Just wanted to let you know , I am borrowing the money to refund to you from my life insurance, and its going to take 7-10 business days for me to recieve it. Just wanted to give you a heads up on that.

Sincerely,
Sam

I will post a follow up in 2 weeks (when this is hopefully resolved).

Why did he never build them? That was a complete waste of your time and I'm glad you posted this unfortunate transaction.
At least it looks like he is going to do the honorable thing and refund all your money.
Let us know if it goes through.

It is unfortunate that you had to wait this long to have nothing but disappointment delivered. Will you be able to secure what you need by April? I'll have my fingers crossed regarding your refund. Art Klass

Wow that had to be disappointing. I hope you at least get your money back. It seems like he tried to make you feel guilty by saying he is borrowing the money from his life insurance policy to pay you. I am glad you posted this as I wil be looking for someone to place a large order of racks with soon. Good luck!

Thanks for all the posts. Dennis-had I known about that particular issue I would have had second thoughts on placing an order with Sam, thankyou for sending the link.

This email is in reference to the one delivery we had scheduled. From this email he has the racks on hand:

Scott, I could not make it out of here today, My step father was helping me load the trailer last night (XXXDeleteXXX) I cant really talk now, but if you have time please email your phone number, the only one I have is wrong.

Sam

I did email Sam after this and didn't hear from him, either through phone calls or emails. Him not coming through leaves me in a potential bind as I had counted on him supplying these racks for me.

Thanks for the followup posts, I will post updates as they occur.

I got good news, Sam's wife called me Saturday afternoon and indicated that they had mailed the refund (certified) that AM and should be there Monday. I checked the tracking # Saturday, Sunday and Monday and it was not entered into USPS's system. Unfortunately it did not arrive today. Hopefully the number was incorrect and will receive the check tomorrow.

Sam Craver of Cagecrafters.com...

Came through w/ the payment, I received the certified letter for the outstanding $ today. If you read this Sam, thankyou for refunding the $ in a timely fashion.

I'm glad you resolved the issue with Sam. People are quick to jump to conclusions about this, but before you judge, realize that things happen that are sometimes out of our control. I can personally attest to Sam being a good guy!

Perhaps I did jump to conclusions, but all I know is, if a person in business is not true to his word, then he should not be in business...I.M.O. Not to mention the lack of communication, that I feel the buyer deserves 100%, no questions ask. I am not saying Sam is a bad guy, I do believe a lot of mistakes were made on the sellers end. Sam refunded the mans money, and that speaks volumes of him!!!!!!!!

 just recieved an order of cages and sweater box racks from sam.they were delivered promptly, after ordering.and in good condition.I have known Sam for a long time and have known him to deal honestly, and would recommend him to anyone.sometimes things happen that are out of our control. Its how we resolve these problems, show who we are.sam seemed to handle this in the proper way.maybe a little long, but with good results anyway. ED CLARK/cape may reptile co.

I too have dealt with Sam a few times in the past and have been down to his place and would consider him a good guy. I still use the incubator and racks that he sold me a few years ago.

I am not sure how you can tell who gave the neg karma, probably need a higher membership level? Maybe Webmaster can look?
