In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Question On Loki Herpetology???

Jim,

A trace on the only cell number there is for one of the individuals showed Radford, VA as the location. Of course that doesn't mean any of the multiple names that at one point or another have worked for Loki Herpetology actually live there. Although there was one William Davenport listed for that town apparently he was not the one. The other address Tom has (confirmed) is in Christiansburg, VA. Again, we don't know if that person still lives there but a year ago that was his physical address. I guess it's up to Tom to decide if he wants to pursue this further. One way or the other there is probably very little he can do at this point but to wait and see if his animals prove out.

Regards.

A few points. First, the domain "lokiherp.com" is no longer registered by anyone accoring to two separate whois searches that I did so don't expect any e-mails to go through as there can be no web server or e-mail server if the domain doesn't exist.

Second, they were not far from me and had a good reputation at one point.

Third, if someone has a physical address for them I would be more than happy to pay them a visit (assuming that they are still in southeast VA as they were and not in Radford which is quite far) and make an inquiry, but before I do that, I'd want some clear indication that someone has been ripped off, so I'd need details from skylarke and anyone else that has a deal gone bad.

Fourth, as to
Hearing this I would certainly wonder about those "hets" and sadly, be willing to lay odds against them proving out. Call me cynical of you like...

I am really learning a lesson here! That you cannot always take to heart what is said here in the BOI. I went ahead with the deal with Loki after asking about them here and got very positive responses. With all that said now after all of the scams that have come up lately, I want to verify the info on the papers I have and no luck at all.

I know I will not know for sure until I can breed this pair I have. The address on the envelope that the papers came in is the following:

Loki Herpetology
157 Cinnabar RD
Christiansburg, VA 24073

I have called this number 540-641-0773 and I get a voice message from a girl named Brooke. Last week she called me back and said she had worked for Loki a while ago. She stated that all the animals they sold were true as to the genetics. She was very vague as to any info on the owner of the company "Michael Davenport" I have called her several more times and she has not responded.

Unless somebody can track these people down their is probably nothing that can be done. But what goes around comes around.

Thank you all

Tom Sierra

Sorry, it was Michael Davenport and not "William".

I have seen them in person before at the Richmond, Va. herp show in the past. Two guys and a girl were manning the booth when I was there. I'd guess all three were in their twenties. I have not seen them at any more shows since the one in Richmond, and also, I have not seen them on any classifieds in a while. I do remember them putting up adds saying that they will buy your animals. I gathered from these adds, that they didn't produce any of their animals, but their deal was to purchase animals from other people, breeders, etc. The animals from what I remember at their table, looked pretty nice. Nothing large scale, just a small number of snakes, and maybe lizard/geckos at their table, to include a couple of nice looking thayeri kings. Can't remember what else they had, but the thayeri is the only thing that caught my interest. Also, they had two different locations listed on Kingsnake in their adds. Christiansburg and Williamsburg. Sorry I'm not much help after the fact, just trying to add any information that may help.

OK, thanks for that info Steve. I knew that they had a location in southeast VA. I recall calling them about some rodents and it was a 757 area code. As I said, if someone can come up with an address I'll pay a visit.
