Dear Dana,

I would like to apply for a job working for you as an assistant. After reviewing your thought patterns and desired working conditions, I think this is exactly the type of enviroment I would love to work and be asociated with.

I've always said its not the title or the pay, its the "perks", and yours sound like my kinda wants!

Stop!

A pre-warning warning is now in effect for posting off topic posts in this thread.....

I don't agree that it should be a "violation" that necessitates a "prewarning" when several of us find something/someone we think is offensive, ripped off from others and then spam email to what they stoled... that seems pretty desperate and open to mocking the spams. Those spams are coming to us, your users also.

anyway

Dana pointed out the humidity problem, they were warned about that with some reptiles long before that fiascal in August of sending out so many diseases and dying beardies, that cost the "winners" so much time money and pain in seeing them suffer. The unsanitary "hatchling pens" combined with the humidy was a formual for disaster and it worked.... too well.

Matter of fact, he told me he attempted to open an advertising account at kingsnake.com and it was refused by Jeff B. Perhaps Jeff is even refusing to have owners of competing sites as customers now.
IMO...... It has nothing to do with a competing site, I think it funny that anyone could think RR is a competing site for anything but a memorial, KS is where he stoled the emails from that he is spamming us with! I think you also were aware of that at the time it was done to users. I remember you assuring us on this site it could not be done here that you know of.

Prior to that thief, we could email people directly from their email on the post, they had to remove and protect that options becasue of it. I think its more that ANY site he harassed the users on and he still continues to harass them with spams would have nothing to do with him for that reason, not because he is a competing site. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me...... even JeffB would not be that foolish I don't.

Lets also discuss the mass amount of "spam" from others that show up in our emails......... funny how they all have the same addys too that the ones Fluker thieved does too, that alone tells me he did not stop with just spamming from himself, but has made them available to others. One email I get tons of garbage in was only ever used on the KS site when I first registered under another nick that I stopped using a long time ago and I get the same spam on my other emails, along with the FLukers spams. SO much I had to set up a spam folder for the first time in many years online.

I am pretty sure KS did not give them out, they had to go to the expense and time to remove them so others couldn't do what Flukers did.

Again IMO, I think it has to do with the distaste for someones ethics after being they stabbed them in the back, that no amount of money can make some stomach. Thats my personal opinion and it is on topic

CheriS, the "pre-warning" had to do with the messages going off on a tangent about "shirtless and strapping". THOSE messages had nothing at all to do about the topic of this thread.

Sorry, but I fail to see how you could think it was about anything else when you read this thread.

Sorry Webslave...
It is hard to resist sometimes! I do think a little humor to lighten up threads is pretty harmless and enjoyable, but I guess I went too far. LOL.

I think that anyone thinking about this job should read previous threads on what has been going on down there. I feel sorry for any breeder that sees this job offer and heads down there without knowing the history.
But on the other hand, I do applaud any breeder that knows the history and takes the job to try to straighten things out and make a difference. Heck, if people can raise beardies in the humidity in Florida, I suppose El Salvador isnt a big stretch. Although it is fighting against the elements (an uphill battle) to begin with--and you gotta be careful taking on ole' mom nature.

For that very reason, I actually toyed with the idea of responding. A lot could be learned about how beardies handle different climates, and maybe the lives of the beardies down there could be made a lot better with a fresh perspective and some experience recommending changes in husbandry. I'm not sure the humidity is out of whack for all bloodlines of beardies, for example. There are some parts of Australia where vitticeps and barbata coexist in a fairly humid climate. Yet others, particularly the redder bloodlines, come from some of the driest places on earth. Is humidity tolerance (or intolerance) hard-wired into all beardies, or just certain bloodlines?

Other factors must be contributing to the problems there and I would love to know what they are for the good of all beardies. No matter what I think about the company, my heart goes out to animals being kept in conditions not suited to their needs and getting so sick. They need help. An open discussion of the factors contributing to the illness of the animals there could help veterinary care for beardies everywhere.

I know for a fact that I lack the experience needed, and frankly I think it would be a huge challenge to get anyone with that level of experience. What happens to the bloodlines an experienced breeder has worked so hard to produce? Do they come to El Salvador and go through all the stress of adapting to a new climate? Knowing the health issues faced by animals coming from El Salvador, would any experience breeder be willing to take that risk? Is that breeder allowed to continue his own breeding projects or is his work "lost"? Would Reptile Republic take over the bloodline and market it as their own? Or must that breeder sell all his stock and leave his life's work behind?

My own personal opinion is that getting a biologist, zoologist, herpetologist or veterinarian with extensive knowledge of the species involved would be more practical than hiring a breeder with the actual hands-on experience. And me, I'm just a former veterinary surgical technician with limited breeding experience and mostly theoretical knowledge. I'm certainly not the person who could help things down there.
