Hey guys.
I'm struggling to get the correct temp in my enclosure.
I've got the bulb in a light holder and it's hanging through one of the grills on the lid. It's about 6 inches above his basking log.
At first I had a 60w bulb attached but this was way too hot, going way over 120f. I couldn't find a 40w bulb anywhere so I got my dad to attach the 60w to a dimmer.
Trouble is the dimmer only turns the light up so far and it's not hot enough, only goes to 100F.
I brought a 100w light and attached that to the dimmer.. now it gets to the correct temperature, the only problem is it's not very bright.. infact it's barely on. If I turn it up any further however, the temps soar as with the 60w not attached to a dimmer. Now I'm no expert but I assume the Beardie's actually like the light, aswell as the heat?
My enclosure makes it difficult for me to adjust the light so it's hanging higher, and the lid isn't suitable for placing a light with a reflector (is that what they are called?) on top of the lid.
Are there any dimmers you can buy that allow you to connect your light to it easily? And also light you turn the light up full if need be? My dad has wired my bulb to the dimmer and I was just wondering if there is any easier way? If so, where can I get one from?
Any suggestions at all?
Thanks.
