    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

or this computer? I was in there earlier, and the indicator says there are people there now, but I've been trying unsuccessfully for 30 minutes to access the room. I get a big red X, and the following message:
We were unable to return you to faunaclassifieds.com.

Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website. It appears that the website continues to have a problem.

Guess it was that computer - I'm back home, and got in with no problems
 
I've had that happen as well. I have a desktop and a laptop, I've had the desktop refuse to connect, saying I was either behind a firewall or some other possibility, but the laptop would connect fine. Everything related to the chat working is the same on both computers.
The next day the desktop connected with no problems.

I've had it happen at work as well, once in a while there is a night it won't connect, but nothing changes on that system either. Apparently there's just some times the chat decides it doesn't like talking to certain computers lol.
 
It could possibly be the way the firewall is set up, either on my own server or at the data center level. One way to combat both spam and minor DDoS attacks is to simply block any IP address that sends too many connection requests to the same destination in a certain timeframe. Usually these are more stringently set on ports that aren't normally used for legitimate net traffic. And, of course, the port used for the chat system is such a case.

If it is a widespread problem, I'll ask my server guy about it, but honestly, he's probably tired of hearing from me now after that server move......
 
That could be it, since I did open a few different windows to access various features of the site within a minute or so...though I don't think I did anything out of the ordinary for me. The only thing that I was having difficulty with was chat...and, I probably would have just opened it and moved on to a different window. It was more an issue that I couldn't get in, than my wanting to participate in chat.
